Sailstar Basic Sailing Course: 4 Days in the Stockholm Archipelago on a Large Sailboat

Welcome to our four-day introductory sailing course in the beautiful Stockholm Archipelago, where we’ll be navigating a spacious 50-foot Beneteau, Operah, departing from Viggbyholm. With room for 8-10 onboard and accommodations for 6 participants, you’ll stay on the boat throughout this immersive course, making for an unforgettable sailing experience.

Course Highlights
Over these four days, you’ll gain hands-on skills covering the foundations of sailing:

• Core sailing techniques: points of sail, tacking, jibing, upwind/downwind sailing, and sail trim
• Wind awareness, weather conditions, and navigation basics
• Docking, maneuvering, anchoring, and give-way rules

The course covers all knowledge to achieve the Seglarintyg 1 and 2 (Sailing Certificate level 1 and 2) but to achieve this certificate you need to make the test at another opportunity for the cost of 350 kr. The Seglarintyg 1 however is totally optional. 

Course Schedule & What’s Included

• Dates: May 22 - 25, 2025
• Time: Thursday morning at 09.00 to Sunday afternoon at 16.00
• Meals and Accommodation: Course includes breakfasts (3), lunches (4), two dinners, snacks, and three nights’ lodging on the boat. You’ll also receive a course manual, "The Basics of sailing", to continue your learning.

Additional Information

• We’ll enjoy one dinner out at an island restaurant during the trip. Feel free to bring any beer, wine, or other beverages for meals onboard; water and non-alcoholic beer are provided.

Equipment Provided
Onboard you’ll have access to life vests, sailing gear (jacket and pants), a flotation suit, bed linens, towels, and more. Please bring sturdy shoes, warm layers, a hat, gloves, and any other personal items.

Pricing Options

• Course Fee: 9,950 SEK
• Private Cabin Supplement: 3,900 SEK for a private cabin with double bed
• Extra Night on Boat (night before course): 450 SEK

• Cancellation: Full refund if Sailstar cancels; minimum 3 participants required for the course to proceed.
